This mission and vision is a starting point and drafted with input from about 15 community based parks groups. Over the next 6-12 months we will be updating this vision through strategic conversations with a wide range of stakeholders.
Mission statement
The San Francisco Public Space Collective unites community public space groups across San Francisco to build a beautiful, biodiverse, connected and climate resilient city. We break down the barriers between city agencies and community groups to collaboratively work on open space initiatives that enhance the quality of life for all San Franciscans. Our work is premised on: community-based decision making, knowledge sharing, accountable governance and transparent accounting.
Vision Statement
We envision a San Francisco where every neighborhood thrives through community-led care of parks and public spaces (parks, playgrounds, public art, events and community areas, etc). The SF Public Space Collective empowers community groups to quickly onboard public space projects in their neighborhoods according to their vision. The Collective offers community guidance on tools, funding, and partnerships to restore beauty, build connection, and inspire shared stewardship citywide.
